Do you know how many years it has been since I had a sandwich that tasted like a real sandwich? I don't mean a gluten-free sandwich made with the gluten-free bread I've been able to purchase from the freezer section of health food stores. I mean a sandwich with bread that is similar to the bread I knew before I became a Celiac. I'm talking about bread that is soft and squishy like the kind I grew up on. I'm talking about Udi's Gluten Free Bread!
I had been hearing the "buzz" about this bread for a couple of months, and finally got around to ordering myself 4 loaves from http://udisglutenfree.elsstore.com. As I was sipping my cup of coffee this morning, FedEx rang my doorbell with my delivery. Because of my excitement, I almost threw a couple pieces in the toaster, but then stopped myself. That is what I do with all the other brands of gluten-free breads I purchase to make them more palatable. So I waited until lunch time so I could make a real sandwich...and a real sandwich is exactly what it was.
How many years has it been? Thirteen years. I waited thirteen years to once again eat a regular sandwich...and it was heavenly.
Now I'm hoping they'll start making hamburger buns. Do you know how long it's been since I've had a real hamburger?
